Donor attrition for recurring donors

Have you tried using a comparison report, showing the dates you'd like to see the monthly donors? Or are your donors tagged with an attribute that you just need a tally for?


We do an annual check, usually in the spring, and compare the ones tagged as monthly donors and the total number of gifts for the previous 12 months against the 12 months before that - so the last two years. 


In the past we've also checked it more often by running an export showing all monthly donors from the last two months and exported out the amount of monthly gen ops gifts for each month to find any decrease. This can also be done through a LYBUNT report.

In Reports, there is a section called Pledge and Recurring Reports, which might have some of the information you need. The Not Paid, Past Due, or Missed Payment reports might work, depending on how you have things set up. I also use the Amendment Report to look at variance.


From query, I would probably look at gifts, rather than donors. You could track attrition by for gifts with a certain status and status date, but if you're like us, you would also have to compare that against new active recurring gifts, because of all the folks whose cards expire and they set up a new donation.
