How to enter personal gift but give recognition to his company?

Options
We have a donor who has pledged for his company to make a $100K gift over 5 years. He wants the recognition to go to his company. He would like to start annual recurring payments, from his PERSONAL credit card. We have the EFT module, so I'd like to put the credit card information on the company's pledge and allow the EFT module to do its thing and auto-generate the payments. HOwever, when it does, it'll hard-credit the payments to the company. The only thing I can think of is to allow the payments to run, but to perhaps add a gift reference reminding me to switch the payment over to our donor in the gift batch.

Following me? Does that sound like best practice?

I believe I followed your post. If I had that scenario, I would enter the gift under his personal record and let the EFT do its thing. He is the legal donor and the one to be receipted. Recognition for a gift is a totally separate thing for us and recorded separately. (You can search forums for all the different ways org track/record recognition listings.) I would just record on his record that the company is to receive the recognition.

You are on the right track in my book.  Book the pledge on the company, let the payments be books personally.  Link the payments to the pledge and soft credit the company.  As far as recognizing the company for the gift -- as long as the pledge is on their record and the payments are credited toward paying off the pledge, the company will show up on any donor lists you pull that includes SC.  Another thing to note though, is that the individual person is going to show up also because they are hard credited with the pledge payments.  Your donor may or may not want that to happen.  You can take care of that two ways -- one is to make a note to remove his name from lists, the other and I think the easiest to keep track of, is to mark him as an anonymous, that way his/her name would not show up, just "Anonymous"
