Are you pumping RE data to a warehouse/lake/model?

Options
All,

I'm looking to connect with self-hosted customers who are shipping RE data out to a warehouse, data lake, or other sort of data model for their institution/organization.  Anyone??  Bueller?

Thanks!

  • Hi!  We do use a data warehouse for our locally hosted RE database.  We will also be using one when we move to hosted at the end of the month.  What questions can I answer for you?
  • We ETL our self hosted RE Data to an ODS each night. We use SSRS and QlikSense for our reporting and visualization. We also use Azure for our predictive modeling.

    Hi Lily,

You mentioned you were moving to hosted. Does that mean to NXT? What approach are you using to continue to have access from the data in the cloud?

    Cheers,

    Hello David,

We've not been with RE for a long time, and we began as hosted, but I believe you would need to run exports out to your ods for time critical reports/processes (or just use RE reports).   For data where time period may not be as critical, hosted environments may request a backup of the database once per month.  You could probably use this backup to populate an ods and such.

SKY API might be a possibility and we can always hope for the best from SKY Reporting.

  • Hi David,

Yes, we are moving from a locally hosted RE 7 installation to a Blackbaud hosted RE7 + NXT installation. We had to purchase an additional service from Blackbaud in order to maintain our data warehouse locally.  Essentially, they are making a daily backup file available to us, at a cost of $15k per year, which we then have to download and process to populate our data warehouse which is SQL server.

  • Lily, it has now been almost 2 years since you moved in the direction of having Blackbaud provide you with daily downloads that you can process in to your data warehouse. I am very curious to know how that has worked for you as BB has suggested a similar solution for us when/if we ever move to NXT.

Honestly I am skeptical as to whether this is a practical solution and so am looking forward to hearing your experience and any others who may have gone down this path.
