Default constituent code?

Options
Hello!

We're in the process of cleaning up our constituent codes and I'm wondering how others, particularly in the health care field, handle constituents that do not fit easily into an existing code category. These may be first-time, possibly "one-and-done" donors that we still want to keep track of. This is a source of discussion/disagreement in the office. Does anyone use Friend? Individual? Donor?

Thanks so much for any guidance/advice!

  • We use Friend for anyone that doesn't fit any other category.  It is a big pot but works for us.  Hope this helps!

We use Patients and Friends.  We also only allow one constituency code per person.

Our constituent codes don't have the same limitation, but I would vote for friend probably.

Just depends on your constituent code structure. Those one-time donors you described would easily fit in on eof our 'donor', 'donor - special event/GIK' or 'donor-memorial/tribute' constituent codes.
