event acknowledgement letters

How do your organizations include the event sponsorship level (ex. Gold Sponsorship) in your donor acknowledgement letters? Blackbaud does not include event fields in their "fields to include" selection in Mail/Donor Acknowledgement Letters. So we are not able to pull any event-related information from the participant record. (Ick!!) What is your work-around? Do you have a different letter code for every sponsorship letter?? That just won't work for us, as we are a large healthcare sysstem with (now) ten hospitals, each hosting multiple events per year. That's WAY too many letters for us to maintain. Any advice?

    Hi Julie,

Our organization uses Appeals, then creates a Package for each sponsorship available.  The Appeal Description, and Package Description are available fields within Export to add to your letter.  We then create the "benefits" related to their particular sponsorship so that receipts are processed correctly less the quid pro quo.  I use a conditional merge letter (if-then-else statement applied within the letter).  Letter in RE is created using an Export. Please feel free to reach out to me for more in depth instruction.

I know you can also use the gift reference field, which we do sometimes, for things like that in the letters.  I wonder if you could use the package field for this as well?
