Batch uploading-gift updates- help!

Hi everyone,

(We are reimplimenting processes and renaming our campigns and funds--meaning for gifts in the part fiscal year I am trying to change those fields.

I am completely new to raisers edge as well.)


From Fundraising-Analyze- I have exported a list of all gifts in the fiscal year.

I am wondering if I can edit this document (ex. change fund from: scholarship to named scholarship) then upload the excel file and the gift Id will register and update those fields?

    You're on the right track, but you're going to need the Gift Import Id and it does not appear you can view that column in NXT Analyze. You can use database view Export or Query to get the Constituent Id, Gift Import Id, Campaign, and Appeal out of the database. Update your spreadsheet with the new Campaign and Appeal Ids that you've already created in the Raiser's Edge, then you can import that spreadsheet using a Gift Import -> Update Existing Records.

    Have these gifts been posted to the GL?

    To Cathleen's point, if the gift GL Post Status is Posted then the Campaign and Appeal fields are read-only and cannot be updated using Import. You'll also have to modify this process if your import file contains split gifts.

    GL referes to General Ledger. The GL Post Status indicates if that gift has been posted to the General Ledger in your Business Office's accounting software. If your organization, like mine, does not integrate Raiser's Edge with your financial accounting software, you will not use this field and will leave all gifts with the status of Not Posted.

    Oh, I'm sorry, GL stands for the General ledger. When you go to the second tab (Miscellaneus) on the gift record, does the GL post status say posted?

    If yes, you have to use a Raisers edge plug in to unpost the gifts first, then you can global change the Campaign/ Appeal
