Information audit - GDPR

Options
Hi all,

I'm trying to undertake a bit of a data audit for our constituent records, prompted by the GDPR and the recommendation by ICO to "document what personal data you hold, where it came from and who you share it with."

Has anyone one done this and feel like sharing some pointers about where to start? So far my thoughts are to download the (relevant) data tables, and ideally pulling out a total of records we have against each field, partly to check which are actually used. Is there a straightforward way of getting these numbers? Then there's the other beast of how to put this together into a legible report.

Any other recommendations would be warmly welcomed as I fear I may be overcomplicating this!

Many thanks

  • Hi Jenny,

You might find the Tallies report helpful, under the Demographic and Statistical Reports section. I don't think you can use it with every table, but you can use it to give you a breakdown of constituent codes, attributes etc.
  • Thanks for that tip Alan.

I will play around with that. It does look
like I can report on some fields, but very many are missing.. It’s
good to know it’s there though as hadn’t thought of looking at
these reports for this purpose before.
