Events - OnLine Express vs K-12 On products?

Options
Just attended a webinar on setting up events with OnlineExpress. We currently use Blackbaud K-12 On products (OnMessage) for our event registrations; anyone familiar with both and have an opinion? I was wondering if it would be a better registration process for our attendees using OnlineExpress? I would love to do the reporting through RE as opposed to the canned reports in K-12, so that's a selling point for me...but I would like to know more about how the registration process works and feels for our registrants.

Thanks,

Carol

    Carol,

We use both products. If the event is something that we need payment to flow to RE or if we need to keep track of attendees in RE, we use Online Express. There are limitations to Online Express though - for example, you can only include one fund or one event within the registration form.  For us, there are a number of occassions where different registration types (individual registration vs table registration) would have a different fund number or we would like to offer multiple events within a week on one form - we cannot do with Online Express and had to come up with work around solutions.

We use the OnMessage event registration form for non-development related events such as Admissions Sports Night. Any event that does not require direct processing through RE.

If you'd like more information, feel free to reach out to me directly at legan@loy.org.

Hi, Lynn, We are also considering using Online Express and we do use the K-12 On products.   I hope you won't mind if I ask you a few questions.

    1. Is there much difference in functionality between creating emails and forms in Online Express vs Pushpages and Giving Forms in the On products?

    2. Do you also use event management software like Greater Giving?  If so, how do you use it when you also have Online Express?

    3. Is there anything you would suggest we take in to consideration while making this decision?

    Sincerely,

    Leilani McHugh

    Leilani,

Forms within the OnProducts do not flow directly into Raisers Edge. Because of that we chose to use Online Express forms for all donation forms and special event registration forms. We do use OnMessage Event Registration Forms for specific school events (especially if it is a $0.00 event). For example, we will use an OnMessage event registration form for our Admissions Sports Nights.

Online Express emails and pushpages are completely different. Online Express emails does not give you any HTML capabilities, whereas you can use HTMl within a region within Pushpages. Also, Pushpages use lists directly from the ON products and Online Express uses queries from RE.

We do not use an event management system - we manage events directly in Raisers Edge.

There are really nice features to both products and limitations to both products. If you'd like to talk directly, you can email me at legan@loy.org or call me at 847.920.2432.
