Emails Opened Query

Options

I've recently sent out three emails through NetCommunity to encourage constituents to attend an event. I'm trying to generate a query in Raiser's Edge to work out constituents who have not opened any of these emails. Queries keep either bringing back no results or including those who have opened one of the emails, but not one of the others. There must be a way to do this - any ideas?

  • Querying on the absence, rather than presence, of information on a constituent record can often be tricky, especially when you're looking at the absence of multiple things.

If you create three separate queries for the people who HAVE opened each of your three emails (we don't have NC but I'm assuming this is indicated by an action attribute or similar, so it should be easy enough to group these people) and then subtract each of those from a list of everyone who received the emails, that should leave you with the people who didn't open any of them. Either merged queries or a query list can be used for the subtraction process, both of which will give you a static query.
  • Worked a treat! Thank you.

Alan, for not having NetCommunity, you intuited this one quite well!
