Does anyone know if RE and Quickbooks can talk to each other?

Thank you,

  • Please specify which version of QB you are using. There is quite a difference between the online and desktop versions.
  • We are currently using Premier 2016.

    Thank you,

I am also interested if anyone else uses Raiser's Edge and Quickbooks Pro (desktop version) for accounting.

  • Mara - we have QB 2014 and haven't had any luck with getting it to talk to RE.  We did purchase Transaction Pro Importer 6.0. That was the best thing we have ever done! We export whatever we need to enter into QB- into Excel, format a little bit, designate account numbers for gifts, then use Transaction Pro to import them all at once.  The worst part (after learning how to set it up), is that we need to match on Constituent NAME, so every once in awhile I have an exception because the names aren't identical (Aimee Snyder vs. Aimee K. Snyder), so I need to go back in to adjust.  Still way easier than manually entering.  ~ Aimee

  • Aimee,

    Thank you much for your
    reply!!

It's so hard for me to
believe that RE can't talk with other programs.  I guess they
have designed to use specifically with their own product, Financial
    Edge.

    I do appreciate your
    input!!

  • Two and a half years late, but just in case it might be helpful:

Our accounting department uses Quickbooks and (despite my pleadings) has no desire to use Financial Edge. But we came up with the idea of populating the Gift Code field in the Gift's Miscellaneous tabs with our QBX codes. I created a table of the codes along with their plain language explanations. Whenever we enter a gift, we populate the Gift Code field with its proper QBX code. It's not ideal, but it makes it easier to reconcile RE with QBX when you can break the task down by Fund and Appeal type.
  • Duane,

Thanks so much! And your answer came at the perfect time for me! Definitely going to try this.
