Change a Pledge to a Gift

You can't change a gift type after it has been saved, unfortunately. 


What I have done for similar situations is:


1.) Query for all such gifts

2.) Export all gift info (including type, subtype, everything about the gift you can) AND the Constituent ID

3.) In the resulting spreadsheet, change the gift type from Pledge to Cash (or Other, if you prefer)

4.) Use this spreadsheet to import new gifts onto the constituent records

5.) Use the query from step 1 to globally delete all of the original pledges, once you've confirmed that your import worked as expected.

Be very sure that you have a good backup of your database first!  And test with a couple of records first to be sure you're comfortable with the process and that it is working as expected.  (I prefer to use dummy records, recreate the situation, and then test with those records.  Nothing much to clean up after, other than maybe deleting some records.  Use a Constituent Code to be able to exclude the dummy records from any reports or lists...if you don't create, use, and delete each time.)
