No Constituent Merge Funcionality

Just a general shout out to see how people are working around the loss of our ability to merge Constituents - for us this is causing huge problems and has been for some months now - it was supposed to be fixed in patch 7 in late December which never happened and the latest is it might be fixed in late January/early February.


Any work arounds, advice or shared experiences would be much appreciated!

    Is this an NXT problem? I'm running RE7 hosted and have not experienced this problem. I merge all the time.

    I think it might be a UK version issue.  I've only seen it mentioned in the Community twice and I'm fairly sure both posters were from the UK.

    Hi Jen - thanks for this - we are hosted and on RE 7.96 so wasn't sure if it would be just a UK issue.

    ​Happy New Year to you too.

    ​I also had this issue about 3 months ago, but it seemed to be fixed in a patch release around Nov time if I remember correctly.

    ​I did have a problem again just before Christmas though where I received a 'WRITETEXT' error but this is due to documents

    embedded in an action (KB Article 111021).

    We're having the same problem (also based in UK but hosted on 7.96). I've had several updates from saying they are fixing it "this month" since October and still nothing. The latest says it will be fixed with patch 8 (due late Jan/early Feb). It's incredibly frustrating.


    It's a huge struggle and I've ended up making an excel list of constituent IDs I need to merge once the functionality is back.

    Thanks for your reply sounds like we have an identical situation - we are hosted on 7.96 and we too are building an excel file for when (if) the merge function starts working again! Other users who have had their hosting moved from Boston to Europe seem to be fairing better.


    I'll let you know when we get a fix

    Out ouf curiosity, in what way does merging fail?  What error message does it display?  How far does it get before it fails?


    Over here in the U.S., on RE 7.96 Patch 5, I'm not experiencing whatever problem it is that you are having.  But over the years, I have had various issues with merging-- a current, ongoing issue is we can't merge records if the Merge From record has a joint (not primary) membership.  We have to remove the joint membership, then merge, then re-create the joint membership.


    We are also unable to merge if one of the two Raiser's Edge records does not have a corresponding Luminate Online record.  (Because we have the RELO integrator.  We're hoping to switch to Omatic in the coming months.)
