eCard in LO

Options
Hi friends, anyone savvy with building eCards in LO? I'm new to LO and I'm having trouble with the eCard preview - it's virtually empty, even though the card is built. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Lori! I'm sure there's someone here that can help. Is it possible to post a screenshot or something, maybe, so we can get an idea of what may be going on?

  • Hey Lori!

Have you tried sending yourself a test message to see if the design shows for you in your inbox? Previews aren't always accurate so sending a test to yourself may be a good way to see if you get the same results. If you do, it's most likely some misplaced code or potentially a setting (security, card type, etc) that's not quite right.

As Ami said - screenshots or code in txt file may allow us to better assist.
  • We swear by Litmus here. Submit your design code and see previews in any email client. There are lots of other resources and even an email builder. Designing there and moving to LO isn't too hard.

  • Thanks for everyone's feedback. Here's a few more details:  We are having some issues with a new donation form that we've built. This is a campaign we are running next week as a tribute- where somone can make a gift in honor of a friend and we will mail the friend a notification letter. However, the information for the honoree is not coming through to Raiser's Edge, which has not been the case with tributes to our regular main donation form. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks again!

  • What are the differences between the two forms? Is one an API form or are they both standard donation forms?

    Let us know,

Hi Phil, what is API? Pardon my ignorance - still learning the ropes!

  • No problem!

API is application programming interface, Luminate has APIs that allow you to pass the same fields you have on the standard donation forms in Lumiante. This give you more control over layout and other options you would like on your form.

    Check ours out:

We were able to customize this entire form, including the zipcode lookup. Shout out to @Brian Mucha.

So you are using the standard dontion form, which is all good! So what are the differences between the two forms so that the tribute information isn't coming over?

    Thanks,

    Phil

    Hi Lori,

Have you checked your cross-references for Campaigns, Funds, etc on the LO donation form?

    Lori,

It's hard to help you figure out an issue without knowing what exactly is wrong, there are many things in the eCard process that can go wrong. And there are at least 3 various eCard configurations. Think of your website as a house with plumbing. If the water doesn't run from the faucet when you turn it on a number of things can go wrong. Usually the plumber has to check the whole network to pipes to figure out what's going on.

I've worked with eCards recently and ran into similar issues. Here are a couple items that we found that were not functioning properly:

    1. Luminate at times doesn't insert the proper JavaScript on a donation form, the ecard preview button may not work or show a blank page. To solve this we had to manually insert additional JavaScript to remedy the issue.

    2. eCard stationery may not be properly configured, so the data may not be coming through in the preview.

    I hope this helps.

If you need further assistance don't hesitate to contact me directly. If you could include the link to the donation form and/or eCard page that will be helpful.
