Adding donors to interest categories

Options
In LO surveys, action alerts, and events you are able to add a hidden interest category(ies) to user submissions. This option is not, however, available in donation forms. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to get donors added to interest categories?

Thanks.

    Hi Kim,

What's your use case for adding donors to interest categories?

Would adding the donors to a donor group work instead? Donor groups can be set up at the campaign level.

  • Hi Kim,

You should be able to use the Email Interests field in the donation form.

It is under Email and Preferences Fields on the left side in the Design Donor Screen section of the Donation Form area.

You will then get to choose the interests that appear to the user. At least one must be visible.

Allison, the reason for using interests is so that you do not lose a constituent from your entire housefile when they click unsubscribe. When using groups to send e-mail, if a constituent clicks unsubscribe, they are unsubscribed from every e-mail (the nuclear option, as BB puts it). When using interests and the constituent clicks unsubscribe, they can unsubscribe from that particular interest only. The nuclear option is still there, but at least you have a chance of keeping them on your housefile.

    Thanks,

    Phil
  • Our use case is subscribing members to our
email lists, managed by interest categories.

Thanks for the location of the fields! Don’t
    know how we missed it!
