Which field would you place Alumni who are 'Freelance' in the Business Module?

Options
Hello, I am the Database Manager at a college and some of our Alumni are Freelance.

We would like to be able to pull a report of all our Freelance alumni, but first need to decide what field to mark it in.

Do you have any recommendations on where to place 'Freelance' in the business module?

I see that formerly 'Freelance' was placed as the Org. name, Position or Profession.

My thought was to place it in the Reciprocal field, but I would first like to hear from you. Thank you!

Primary Business Info and where you would put in the Org name put Self-Employed and in position put freelance.  and for Relation and Reciprocal put Business and Owner
  • I would enter a Primary Business with "Freelance" as the Organization Name.  Then either leave the Address blank or link it to the existing Home address (because the Address on the Primary Business Relationship Record will automatically appear on the Addresses Tab).

You can then add/edit other data on the Relationship Record however you'd like and Query on the Organization Name of "Freelance".

Optionally, you could create an Organization Record for "Freelance" and make those Relationship Links rather than non-constituent records.

You could, instead, use another field ([Industry] or [Profession] if not already in use, or a Relationship Attribute) to indicate "freelance" thereby allowing the Organization Name to be a freelance/self-employed name (i.e. Bob Hernandez with a Primary Business of "Robert Hernandez Designs" where that's the name of his freelance business).
