I have been trying to capture all the year end donations for a true 2017 total in one report.  We have always used the gift date for the date the donation was deposited to the bank.  This is how our Finance department records all donations.  I run the Account Distrubution report at month end to balance Raiser's Edge with our Finance department (that deposits all checks received).  I know the cash receipts report and gift validation report will give me the check date.so I can manually add to my account distribution report any year end December checks that come in in January to get my true 2017 total receipts.  Does anyone know of a report in Raiser's Edge that would pull the donation date from the check date field and capture all 2017 gifts?

    Will hop on a soap box here. How do you handle entering a check date for your checks with no date, incomplete dates, wrong dates (writen yesterday but says 2017) and cash 'intended for previous year'? The check date is pretty much meaningless to me.


    Back to your question - it sounds like you're looking for a different total than finance will have. I'd suggest using a gift attribute with "your" gift year or if the end of year gifts are in response to a specific appeal, record than and use that as one of your filters.  For past year, you may have to find using query.

    Perhaps you could create a query with the gifts, with the cheque date in the output, and then use that query in a Pivot Report?

    I haven't used pivot reports but I'll look into it!  A query seems to be the only answer.

    I leave the check date blank if there is not one on the check.  I added an attribute and agree the only way to get the numbers is through a query.  Thanks Jo Ann! :)
