Organization Records & Specific Annual Report Listings

Options
I have a foundation that is managed by a bank. They request a specific way to list the foundation's name in an annual report. 

It is too long to have as the Organization Name on the RE record. Does anyone have any advice on how to go about entering this type of information? Just use  Attributes?

For individual records we indicate it in the Addressees and Salutations tab. Thank you!

    How do you record how your other organizations wish to be recognized? For org records we use an alias. Works for us as it accomodates longer listing, specific ways listing is requested without changing organization name on the record. 


    Attribute would certainly be another option.
  • At my last org, we moved all Donor Listings to an Attribute.  Same place on every record (individual & organization) and slim chance of it being accidentally changed as it might be in Addr/Sal.


    Had that happen once...we printed "How your name will be listed in publications" as "Bob & Wendy Hernandez", using Addr/Sal; then someone updated the record by moving Bob to the Nickname and adding Robert as the Firstname...changed the listing to "Robert & Wendy Hernandez".  In this case, the donor wasn't upset, but we could lose count of the number of donors who would be if it happened to them.  (When creating new records, I would just click Editable on the appropriate Addr/Sal, select & copy the text, uncheck the box, and go paste in the Attribute (which was added by a Default Set...the same one that set up the initial set of Addr/Sals).


    Attributes also gave us a date tracker and a comment field.  Anytime you edited the Donor Listing Attribute, you would update the Attribute Date and add a comment if applicable.  Could also add a Constituent Note if needed to explain in more detail.  And, to your situation, the length can be longer than the ConstName field allows.  (Plus, you don't run the risk of someone accidentally editing the Name.)

    For our organizations, we store public name recongition in attributes (catergory called public acknowledgement), adding a date and comments.

  • Since there are no add/sals for organizations, we store this information under Alias with a type of 'Honor Wall Listing'.
