Query on Campaign

Options
I'm having a hard time generating a mailing list of anyone who gave to a specific campaign during any year. When I build the query it generates a list but has people listed more than once. I understand they are grouped together because they have given to that campaign more than once over the years but I need to just see a list of constituents who have ever given to that campaign with no duplicates. Do I have to remove all duplicates manually? Or is there a way I'm not figuring out. Thanks for the help!!!

Are you using the Summary Info? If you enter criteria there, I think you should be able to remove most of your duplicates. Of course the other option is to take your query (grouping tool) to the Export function.

The RE mantra:  "Query is a grouping tool, not a reporting tool."  Use an Export based on the Query to get the list you want.  A Constituent Export based on a Constituent Query will only give you one record for each Constituent even if they are in the Query multiple times.

I have also found 2 other things to be helpful.  The query type can help determine if you are going to see duplicate rows or not, but also check Query Options under the Tools menu.  There is an option in there, on the 2nd tab, I believe, that is a checkbox for suppressing duplicate rows in your output.  Sometimes this will suppress duplicates.

To pull your data out of RE, I'm also a huge fan of using Export since that will, as John mentioned, be a huge help in eliminating duplicates.  But, if you need to comb through your results on-screen prior to exporting, try one of the above to help slim down the list to have to scroll through.
