Raiser's Edge Mobile App

My first question here: How many of you use the Raiser's Edge mobile app?  What are the benefits and downsides of the app?  When and why do you use it?

My boss asked me to investigate it this morning and I confess I didn't even know there is an app available (I'm new to RE).  Your advice is greatly appreciated!

    Hi Barb!

We use the Mobile App. It is mostly our Development Staff who use the app. It allows them to be able to look up constituents easily when on the road. They can check and set actions, etc. They seem to like it. I know if we move to NXT we won't need it. But that is still down the road for us. So in the meantime, this works well.

  • Thanks Michele.  Good to know!

  • Hi!  We use it here at UC Riverside.  It's a simplified view of RE, however, it's great when you are at an event or on the road and need quick access to basic info.  Definitely worth using.  Downside is the fact that it is limited, but upside is access to info on the go.

  • Hi,

I actually just installed it a couple weeks ago to see how it worked and what it might be useful for. Our development staff is small (private Catholic high school) and right now don't do much on the road stuff to see constituents but I can see how it might be useful for that. So far I have used it to look up a few addresses when I was outside the office and once to see if a lost wallet at an event belonged to a student.

I can see how it may be helpful at off campus events, such as our annual golf tournament, if our alumni director or advancement director need to look up details on an alum (grad year, are they a current parent, etc.) Actually I can see it as a way for me to look that up no matter where I am in response to a text from one/both! LOL

For us, I think it's more of a just-in-case kind of app that we won't use much but will be grateful for when we do need to find information on the fly.

We are a small independent school development office, but both my director and our alumni coordinator have both used it on the road. They seem to like it! One thing to keep in mind - you cannot use the app if you are still logged in on a desktop. So if you're like my director and sometimes forget to log out before leaving for a meeting, it may not work!

  • Brittany, you might consider setting up a second login for your director in case she forgets to log out from the primary User, she can sign in with the second.

Haha, that is a good thought! I may try that - if he can remember the second one ;)

I had a boss years ago who needed a second login and we just put a 2 at the end of the User Name, same password.  Only thing is, you can copy over User Settings, but any new/changed settings will only affect one of them...same with the Recently Accessed lists.

  • It's nice to get users familiar with what the app Can't Do.  I think it's very useful but you won't be able to view deceased records, nor constituents marked inactive.  If I'm not mistaken, you can only view actions you created.  I've never felt the limitations are well-documented, so you might want to create your own white paper.

One awesome feature is being able to call a donor you're on the way to visit by clicking on theri number in the app.

I didn't even know there was a Moble App! Thanks for posting this!

I've used it a couple of times when I'm out of the office.  Once at a reunion event when an alum wasn't sure if she had registered for the next day's activities or not.  Another time when a legislative hearing I was in made me curious about an individual's giving history.  It certainly isn't very robust, but it certainly is handy to have basic information at your fingertips when you need it.

  • Christina, I contacted RE to see if we could be set up to use the app, but was told that it's no longer supported and of no benefit to install. They want you to go with NXT instead.

That's too bad. I had thought our new CDO might like to use it but was having trouble finding it.

Sort of contrary to recent BB post about how they are supporting RE, not pushing to RENXT.

    Thanks for the info.
