Importing constituents with multiple interest opt-in groups

Options
Hello,

We are needing to import multiple interest opt-in groups for a set of users. Currently we have been importing them where we have to duplicate each for each interest group we are assigning. Can we just have multiple titles like "INTEREST_NAME" with the "OPT_IN" element?
Currently we are having to do it this way for each email:

Can we accomplish the same thing doing it this way?

It would definitely save some time doing it the second way. Could someone please advise? Thank you?

  • That is a cool idea, I don't think Luminate import can handle that though. The column heading matches to the field you are importing.

I don't think it can match multiple INTEREST_ID columns.

Did you try it? Did it work?

I just make a separate import file for each INTEREST_ID.

Then you are only changing one column each time.

    Thanks,

    Phil

  • You might get some sort of error with multiple OPT_IN columns on the same line — but, the upload system should have a way to upload as a test without making any actual changes. You should format your spreadsheet as you pictured it and try a test upload.

May I ask, though: Any particular reason you think such a process will be faster? If the problem is all the duplicated data (email, opt in), Excel has some pretty powerful tools for duplicating data across rows, even without any programming or Excel formula experience needed.
  • I've actually spoken to Luminate Support about this exact thing. Unfortunately, your current approach is what I was directed to do  as well. Definitely takes more time for preparing files for import and I just ended up running multiple imports for each interest.
