Can two Organization records be merged in Raiser's Edge?

Yes, same option is there on an org record as an individual. To merge an org and an individual, you would need to convert one so that they are the same type of record.

I just quickly tested -  created ABC Co and then merged another org record into it. Worked fine. Check knowledgebase for what that error may mean or chat with support. Sorry it's not working for you.

I've recently (within the past two weeks) merged 2 records in a Hosted RE database.  Hosted databases are always on the most recent patch, so I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to merge if you're on the most recent patch.  (And if this was a problem before the latest patch, I would think I'd have seen a lot more posts about it in the Community, not to mention experienced the problem myself!)


I would check which patch you're on, create some dummy records to try again (without risk of messing up real records), and contact BB Support again to clarify what you're waiting on, since others are able to merge currently.


If all else fails, create a relationship link between the two records with the Relationship Type of "DUPLICATE TO BE MERGED" and consider a Constituent Code on the record that should be deleted after merging.  This way, you can easily query and locate all of the applicable records once you are able to merge again.  (I used a similar system at my last job for records where I needed to do additional research before merging or where the data was complex enough or the merge would create enough of a mess that sorting out the surviving record would take longer than the time available at that moment.)
