Need help with Pledge Form!

Options
Our organization does an annual internal campaign to allow staff to donate by payroll deduction. In the past we've always done paper forms, but this year they want to go automated. I've started building a pledge form through OLX, but I'm running into a couple of snags and I'm not sure what to do.

First problem, the only options for processing gifts are monthly, quarterly, and annually. We process payroll bi-weekly, but since that's not an option I thought I could just make note of the per paycheck amount and then set the minimum payment to reflect the average monthly total for 26 pay periods.

When I get to the live form, below the monthly total, there's text that says "Gifts are processed on the last Friday of the month. Your first gift of $x.xx will occur on 9/29/17."

Is there any way to change that text on the form? Or remove it entirely? I've tried looking in Fine tuning, and it seems I can alter everything else but that. First concern is that I don't want someone getting confused about when the money is getting deducted (total out of the last paycheck of the month, versus $X amount per paycheck). The second problem is that we're taking pledges now, but the deductions won't start until our first pay period of 2018 (so gifts start on January 12, 2018). I have that noted in our Thank you message, but I am worried people will be put off from pledging if the form is confusing.

My main questions:

Is there any way to get bi-weekly as an option on the form (which would eliminate 95% of my issues) or edit the text below the pledge section on the live form?

Am I overthinking how confusing this pledge form may be to staff members trying to pledge?

Am I better off just setting up the form with regular gifts and only allowing the "Bill me later option" and fixing the pledge in the RE record?

I keep going back and forth with this because this is the first time we've gone tech with the campaign, and I want it to be as easy and painless as possible. The limitations on the form have me worried people will get confused and then just choose not to give at all. Please help!

  • Unfortunately, I don't think that an OLX form is going to seemlessly meet your needs for payroll contributions.  There are significant limits to text & labels that you can edit and it's really more designed for credit card gifts.  You could try the Bill Me Later...I've never used it, so am familiar with how it works and what options are available.  Another option is to use a regular web form, not thru OLX, collect the data, and enter into RE via Batch.  If you are providing a paper ask, you can include their ConstID and ask that they enter that number when making their payroll gift/pledge.

I'm fairly certain this has been discussed in the Community previously, so you might search for other threads regarding this.  Also check out the OLX Idea Bank.  Post a comment here with links to what you find, so others can add their comments and vote on Ideas.
  • I actually created an idea in the idea bank of Online Express to add the bi-weekly option to the giving forms.  I do exactly what you are attempting to do below with our employee campaign.  This is my second year of doing so.  I collect one-time and bi-weekly payroll deductions, earned time deductions and credit cards through Onliine Express forms.  They have worked pretty slick.  The only snag I have is not having the bi-weekly option.  I have used a work around with annual, but still have the issue of the messages that are hard coded that I can't modify.

If you would like to see the bi-weekly option happen, please go and vote on my idea in the idea bank.  The only way I have seen things like this happen is if many are behind it.  :)
  • There are actually four Ideas in the OLX Idea Bank for this...which may eventually be merged into one by BB staff.
