Thinking of adding RE Gift Receipts

We are thinking of ordering the RE Gift Receipts ( One per Page or Three per page). We have a majority of our gifts as Tribute gifts and need to be able to include the name of the tribute and any acknowledgment information. Is this possible through a merge onto the reciept form? (We are trying to make our gift receipting more prominent to the donor; had been including tax verbiage in Thank You letters through mail but donors often missplace or missunderstand that this is their only receipt.)

    Olivia, I don't have tribute module but if you look at the Mail > Receipt function you should be able to see the fields available to use. If it's not an option listed for preprinted receipts be sure to look at the receipt type 'create custom data file'.  You have a bunch more field options with custom.  This can be a little work, as you'll need to get your document set up yourself for 3 per page.


    It sounds like your planning a 1/3 page receipt and a separate TY letter. You may want to check on having tax verbiage separate from the receipt.  Probably should be on same piece as some receipts may qualify as tax deductible gifts and others may not. You want that to be very clear to donor or they are going to have to hold on to both pieces for their tax records..


    We do a one piece thank you and receipt.  One thing we did was to add "Letter of Receipt" at the very top of the document. Tends to remind them to hold on to it.

    Thank you for your response to Olivia's question, it was helpful for me too.  Do you generate your 
    one piece thank you and receipt using the Mail > Receipt Fxn?  Would you be willing to share yours as a sample?  I am hoping to start using this function in my office but it is very helpful to me to see samples and templates from others.  Thank you.

    Katie, yes we generate our one piece thank you/receipt using Mail > Receipts.  I ask our CEO and Branch Directors for a letter each year for the various funds we work with (annual, capital, etc.) and help them as needed. LOL.  Each letter references how the gift is making a difference and lives affected or thanks for helping kick-off our capital campaign - whatever is appropriate. At bottom of letter I merge in the receipt # and gift/receipt amount. Somewhere, top or bottom, left or right, is box with "no goods or services...please retain this receipt for your records".  I move box around each year just so it look a bit different.


    I'm attaching a sample for a capital gift but really any format works. We do ours on letterhead. When I look at the receipts I receive for our personal donations, those seem so impersonal and generated. I like that we have our letters.
