New to Raiser's Edge: Is there a report in Raiser's Edge that current month vs current month last year, currrent YTD vs current YTD last year?

There is one report designed to compare Reports > Analytical > Comparison but it's designed to compare a constituents giving - increase/decrease/etc.

Options depend on what you want to count. The Reports > Financial > Cash Receipts Journal can pull payments. You'd need to run two separate reports. It would not work if you want to include pledge amounts.

For the report I run showing YTD through past month and last yearYTD for same month, I have 2 queries I use to generate the info. There isn't a report that pulls what I need for this.

There are Campaign, Fund or Appeal comparison reports. What are you comparing?

My go to is always the Gift Detail and Summary report because it really gives you the most options for what you include in terms of columns, filters, summaries. I pull this one for my Director on a monthly basis and could easily just change the year to the previous one and run it again to do a comparison. This was the first report I really familiarized myself with when I started using RE ... I find it extremely useful!

The comparison reports in Campaigns, Funds and Appeals allow you to compare different years. You can put in multiple report periods. It's the way to go when you want to compare different time periods. I also use fund queries to do the same thing.

Just to throw out another option: When I'm comparing a lot of categories of giving (by fund attribute or constituency code or whatever) I tend to use Pivot tables. You can set up your columns to show year (or month and year) by gift date. You can get pretty creative with them...

To add on to everyone else's answers, there is also Comparisons and Summaries in Demographic and Statistical reports if you're not looking for detail. Choose which field you want to filter by, apply gift type filters, put in time periods (up to 5) and it'll summarize.

Our department reports 2 different ways. When reporting master pledges the only thing we have to worry about in constituent changes from one year to the next. The main report we want to track is installments. What is expected to be received during the fiscal year. Due to the primary constituent changes and payments received during the year we keep a hard copy of this by month. This way we can look at history of what was intended to come in by the end of the fiscal year (the saved hard copy) and compare it to this year's installment report of what is expected to come in by the end of the fiscal year. It seems like a lot of extra work but some expectencies never happened (pledge payments did not come in or on time) but on last years report we had expected them and we want to include them in this years comparison.

Hi Adam,

When I want to do a year-to-date or month-to month, etc. I use the Comparisons and Summaries report in Demographic and Statistical Reports. This works great for me.

If you just want year over year YTD by Fund with the total at the bottom then I suggest. Reports > Campaigns Funds and Appeals > Fund Comparison Summary. It's quick and gives you an overall snapshot.

I do a monthly TY vs LY report - here's my path - Reports>Demographic and Statistical Reports>Comparisons and Summaries. I created a template and call it Monthly YTD report. You can set your report periods as you need. HInt - don't forget to rename the month every time under Format. I use this as a month vs month report or even a year to year.

Very helpful report.
