Grouping gifts by constituent

I'm doing a query on all gifts our organization has ever recieved on RE7. Is there a way to group the constituents gifts so they are lumped together? Thanks in advance.

    What do you mean by "group"?  Do you want total amount? Results sorted by name? Are you doing a constituent query or gift query?  


    If you want one row for each constituent record with columns for every gift, I'd take the query to the Export function.  Set up the export to display enough gift records to cover the maximum # on any record.


    For total amount, use Summary info.

    Query is a grouping tool - not a reporting tool. It is just meant to find all of the records that meet the criteria. Output is simply used to verify your results.


    Sort may help you sort the output list first by name then by something else but if you are planning to use the results in an export or report - save the query and go to export where you can set up the proper fields you want to export.

    So as Melissa said, write your gift query first, then pipe that into a gift export. Make sure you include first name and last  name as separate columns in your export, then just go ahead and sort by last name first and then first name, and you'll have all your gifts grouped together. You could then also sort by gift date, or appeal, campaign, whatever, just so long as your last name is the first sort field and first name is the second.


    I would also urge you to output the constituent ID number. Basically any time you ever export anything, include the constituent ID number. That way, if you ever want to import information into RE based on the stuff you've exported, you can do so. You could also output the Constituent Import ID. Either one will allow you to import.

    Are you wanting a report that shows how many and how much $ each constituent group has given in forever?  I would suggest Demographic > Statistical Reports.  You can have it sort/report by Constit group with columns with the other info.
