Importing Action/Attribute for Survey Results

Options
I am trying to import survey results into the Action Attibute

I have set the questions all in the back end

1. Confif- Attributes - Action then

2. Tables - I have found the questions I set up in Step 1 and have set the answers for each question

It is my excel importing that is not working..

It can be done as a consultant helped me last year

**Help Needed**

  • Could you provide some additional information about which part of the import isn't working, e.g. any error messages?

Are you trying to import new actions with attributes, or are the actions already on the constituent records and you're adding the attributes to them retrospectively? It can be done either way but the process will be slightly different for each.
  • Hi

Thank you for getting back to me

    The exception error says
Invalid field value: Field is read only: Constituent/Event/Appeal

The Action already exists - so I have set that up and it is in their record

Just need to add the attributes to that Action

    Cheers

  • It sounds like the import is trying to change a value in one of your fields, which it shouldn't need to do here as you're adding new attributes rather than updating existing ones. Are you using a Constituent Action Attribute import type, and selecting "import new records"?
  • I've gotten that error before when trying to import data into a record that's locked for editing. Try importing that line of the file again, after ensuring the record isn't opened by anyone else.
  • Hi

Thank you for responding, gave that a go and no luck :((

Can you attach files to these threads?

    Have a great day

  • Hi

I am using a Constituent Action- that's what support told me to use

I can try with a Consituent Action Attribute - so it came up with an error message

Duplicate Field 'Category'not allowed as there more than 20

I am wondering if I can paste the fields I have with dummy answers to show you?

Do you know if it is possible via this?

    Cheers

  • Hi Koly,

To post a screenshot on the forum, you'll need to save it as an image file first and then click on the Image icon on the toolbar above your reply (2 items left from the paperclip) to attach it to your post.

I've included an example below of how your import file might look, and then how those fields are mapped in Import (if you give the column headings the right names in the spreadsheet, RE will map them automatically). ACImpID is the import ID for the action that you want to add the attribute to.

If you're adding multiple attributes to the same action, you'll need each attribute to be on its own row in the import file (so there will be duplicate values in the Action Import ID column). It sounds like you've currently got one row for each action instead, with multiple columns for the different attributes; this is why you're getting the message about the duplicate category. The Constituent Action Attribute import type is expecting one action attribute per line, and if there's more than one category on that line it doesn't know which one to use.
  • Hi Alan

    :))

    Really appreciate your help
