Hi All!


In RE, how can you create a special rule where if anyone enters a specific action type, RE sends an email to a specified user?  We're trying to track Planned Giving activity in Actions, and want the director to be aware of PG activity.

    I don't believe RE has the functionality you're looking for.  If you put the director on the Action under the [Auto-Remind] section and set up a reminder, that might work...and put something on the director's Outlook calendar.  Maybe.  You'll want to do some testing on this (and then report back on this post for the benefit--or curiosity--of others).


    Another option may be a product from another vendor, like Zeidman Development or SmartTHING.


    You may also want to add this to the RE:7 Idea Bank (or search to see if there already exists a similar idea).

    Rodney, if you are familar with the VBA hooks within RE you can insert the custom code to do what you need.  Thanks, Dennis

    Hi Rodney! Would it be possible for your director to just run a quick Action Detail Report daily or maybe weekly? You can filter on the Action Type = Planned Giving. Once it's set up, it takes less than 30 seconds to run. The report includes all of the usual categories--constituent, solicitor, progress, type....

    As Dennis said, the VBA module - if you have it - is your friend for all of this kind of event-triggered RE functionality. (Eg, you can validate data on Save, pop up customized messages on Open, etc, etc.)


    It's an under-appreciated (if over-priced!) addition to RE7 in my opinion. In my previous employed position with a large Australian NGO, nearly everything was done via macros/VBA.
