Global Refund - can it be done

I'm thinking the answer is 'no' but does anyone know if you have a number of donors that all gave to the same donation page (so you can query/find them) can you globally refund their donation.

Or do you need to refund each transaction separately one at a time?

Lisa - never saw your response, until now. We are using Clear Commerce as our merchant account/CC processor

Joanne,

I would contact Clear Commerce's tech support to see if a Global refund can be performed through their system. We use Blackbaud Merchant Services, and all of our refunds are made through them. We've only had to refund a couple of donors as they admitted to hitting the "submit" button too many times while their gift was being processed so I've not had to globally refund a group of donors yet (and hopefully won't ever have the need).

We do refunds one at a time ourselves and thankfully do not have a need for a global refund - it was more a question my manager asked about.

I just went through a rather painful experience of trying to reach clear commerce about something else and it was a lot of hassle so I'm hoping this would never be an issue

We are looking into BBMS...how has your experience been with them? How long have you used them?

We've used BBMS for a few years now. Set up was incredibly easy. We switched from Global and I haven't regretted it yet. The team is wonderful to work with. We had 9 accounts to move over and they did everything they could to make it a smooth process.

Hi Joanne,

We've used BBMS since September. As Alicia said, easy implementation and have been great since! Every once-in-awhile when I have a question, support is great to chat with and provides sanswers that make sense.

I encourage you to look into switching to this Merchant Service. Lastly, I should add they have an easy Mobile Pay system that works like Square. We like taking it to our events. It works really well!

I am on the BBMS support team and came across your question today. While I cannot speak for your current merchant on global refunds, I did notice you were looking into switching to BBMS. One thing I want to mention is that we do not offer a bulk refunding option if you were to need to do that in the future. I would hate for you to make the switch with the impression that we do. We of course would love to help you make the switch to BBMS down the road if you decide to.

I really appreciate the clarification.

That would not be a make or break for us - just a nice to have if the need arose.

Right now our time frame for any switch would not be until next Spring.
