Best Practices for Action Locations in the Raisers Edge

Options
Hello everyone! I'm looking for my fellow Blackbaud users to give me some feedback on what you use for "Action Locations" in Raisers Edge. Do you use generic locations? Do you allow your users to add in their own locations? Help!

Thank you!

  • We're just starting to fully utilize actions. Currently, we have our different locations listed and then more generic categories such as restaurant.
  • Hello!

Our organization uses action notes strictly for recording any and all information deemed from communications with a constituent. Anyting that was learned or requires notation that is not for the pruposes of recording a communication (i.e. contact report) is to be included on the Constituent record's Note tab.

Personally, I believe it should be kept generic/general -- i.e., on site, restaurant, private home, their office.  Because if you want to get more specific on a certain donor record you can do that in the notes.  But it would depend on whether you are tracking the location field or querying on it for any reason and how much detail you feel should be captured or not.
