Training Recommendations

Options
Hi all,

We are looking at training options for the staff member that will be replacing me when I retire.  smiley

I am looking for input on training sessions at the MicroTek regional sites.  I have been told their trainers are employed by BB and have current, thorough, up-to-date knowledge.

If you have gone that route, please let me know your thoughts.  Feel free to email me at joanie.rogers@llcc.edu

Thanks!

Hi Joanie, I attended training on database administration at the MicroTek in Chicago.  We had a Blackbaud trainer who was absolutely wonderful.

We got the Blackbaud "Learn Everything" plan and so far it's been great!  There are 3 hour classes and you can either just go on there to learn or earn your professional certification from BB University.  You don't know what you don't know so even though I have been working in RE for 4 years I was able to learn some new things / think about how to utilize the product differently to better meet the needs of our organization.

When I first started we received some training from Nonprofit Garden (previously Beyond Nines) and that was good, but they were looking to us for what we wanted training on (again you don't know what you don't know)...the BB training is more all inclusive.  Also, it's helpful to have other people asking questions that might have a different perspective than you because it may change the way you look at something or give you an "ah ha" moment.

If the person has some experience, they can take the Fundamentals certification and if they pass they can skip all of the lower level classes...  Hope this helps :)
