OLX - event registration

We currently use Greater Giving for online giving as well as event registration but will be moving to OLX.  We don't have the event's module in RE, so we don't have the event donation form in OLX.  I'm wondering whether I can customize the general donation form enough to work for event registration.  We aren't set up, so I haven't actually looked at the form but from the short videos I've watched it appears there are some limitations to adding custom fields. Does anyone use the general donation form for event registration? Thank you!

I don't use the regular form as an event form, but I guess that it could theoretically work but it would cause a lot more work. The event form allows for much easier tracking of events and participants which would have to be manually added to whatever form of tracking you are using if done through the gift form. Technically, for reporting, you might be able to get away with setting up gift attributes instead of participant attributes for queries concerning reporting, but it will certainly create a lot more work. There is a major limitation to the customizability of the forms in terms of adding your own sections, so what you see is basically what you get. It makes for extremely easy setup, but does leave a good bit of wanting when you are needing extra fields to be mixed in. I know this doesn't perfectly answer your question, but I hope it helps.
