in Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT®: General Discussion
Does anyone know if there is the way to become bCRE-Pro certified without having blackbaud university access? I would really love to take the assessment just as a personal challenge but unfortunately blackbaud university does not fit into my organizations budget.

    You should be able to take the exams even if your organisation doesn't have a Learn More or Learn Everything subscription. We don't have a Learn subscription here either so I paid for my fundamentals exam separately; I've got the pro exams in my shopping cart now but haven't got around to purchasing them yet.

    If you are a Blackbaud champion. you could redeem your points to take the tests.  I  took 3 exams using Champions points.

     That's a really good point. There are benefits to being a Champion!

    I took the b-CRE exam, all three badges, and the Pro exam, using Champion points (in other words, for free). However, I've also take a couple of classes on Crystal Reports and such, simply paying "a la carte" with our organization's credit card. A Learn subscription is not on our agenda either, and doesn't make much sense for us anyway, since we've already got so many years' experience in RE.


    If I ever moved on, I would absolutely recommend a one-year Learn subscription for anyone replacing me though --- there would be a lot of things to get up to speed on, fast! Sometimes it's worth it. But if you already know your stuff, go for it. Even if you're not a Champion, it's only $100 to take an exam.

    No, you don't need to take the class to unlock the badge exams. Try this link to a list of Badge exams at Training Central, as well as the Pro certification exam. (Making sure you're signed in first, of course!)

    I think you can take the tests on your own and personally pay for them. I was lucky enough to have my company pay but it was a total of 5 tests that would have been $100 each. That is without taking any of the pre-requisite courses. If you take those as well, it can get pretty pricey.
