Pledge Payment & Soft Credit

Options
If an individual constituant makes a pledge - which you enter under their personal record - but then sends a check from their company as one of the installments how do you enter the gift on their company constituant record and have the soft credit count as a payment on the pledge?

Thank you so much!

  • You pay-cash the gift in the company record to the pledge in the personal record.

We would enter the payment on the company's constituent record but apply the payment to the individual's pledge. There's an icon in batch or on gift menu to apply gifts. Load pledge from the individual.  On the records it will show as pay-cash on the company record and balance on pledge on individual's record will be reduced.  If you want pledge to show on company record or payment details to show on individual's record, use the soft credit option for one or both of those.

EXCELLENT! The "apply to" icon was exactly what I needed - thank you!

  • Glad you found the "load pledges from" button.

I do need to ask, however, do you have permission from the company to apply this gift to the individual's pledge? You will need that in order to do this properly.
  • Thanks Melissa, Yes - this company is owned by the constituent. We're all covered, but appreciate the heads up!

Enter it on the company record and then apply the $$ toward the pledge.
