When donors enter organization names in error

Hello everyone,


Do you ever get donors entering organizations that don't really exist? For example, I had a third party event organizer enter the name of her event as an organization today. We also get people who try and give us tribute names or spouse names as orgs. I can't seem to prevent these errors from landing in RE. While I know the clean up isn't overly time consuming it is annoying. Has anyone else found a way to get through the OLX download without bringing these fake records into RE?

    Do you have the comments field enabled? Our donors usually put extra information like this in the comments section, which doesn't impact the way new records are created and results in less mess, if there isn't a field available for a piece of info the donor is trying to communicate I imagine there'd be more of an impulse for them to try repurposing other fields. We also allow for tribute gifts in our forms, sometimes people do misunderstand (e.g. putting their own info again) so we do have a generic "Tribute" record that we link such gifts to temporarily since the tribute can't be deleted in OLX before the gifts have been added to RE, but we then have the info in one place to clean up afterwards.

    We have this issue too! I wish they would enable matching of an individual to an organzation to avoid this issue.


    ALSO I think the fact that the checkbox is right under billing address (low/small on our form), it is easily missed by the customer.


    Unfortunately, we bring it over on the individual record and then manually move it afterwards to the organization!
