Unwanted Space in Email

Options
I have been working on this email for hours trying to figure this out!

When I send a test email to myself or others, there is unwanted white space in between one part of my email. It looks like there is a part of the email missing, but there isn't. I have checked to see if there is extra spacing in both the box above it and below it and there isn't. It formats correctly when I am designing it and saving it, but messes up when it's sent via email.

Help??

  • Does it appear to be an extra carriage return (blank line) between paragraphs?  This text editor in the Community doesn't do it (thankfully!) but many programs do, including OLX, and I believe all Microsoft products.  The text editor thinks it's being helpful by adding space between paragraphs.  If you are adding in carriage returns on your own (as, I think, most of us do who learned to type before probably 2010), then it adds in additional lines.

Like just above, I hit [Enter] three times, at the end of the first paragraph, to create a blank line, and to start this paragraph.  In OLX, the text editor will end up adding additional space, which will look like this:

Which is too much space between the paragraphs.  It's annoying as heck (to me, at least), but there is a fix.  In some text editors, you can find an option to remove extra spacing.  Another option, which is what you need to use in OLX, is to hold [Shift] when you hit [Enter] which puts in a different type of return.  Just [Enter] puts in a hard return or starts a new paragraph with the extra space automatically added and [Shift]+[Enter] puts in a soft return or a line break.

If this doesn't solve your problem, then hopefully someone else (or Support) will be able to help.
  • Have you looked in code view?

This is really helpful and we've used this to solve most of our spacing issues. Also, try playing around with the padding if your paragraphs are in separate text boxes.
