Do any institutions store applicant data in CRM?

Options
Quick question:  We are curious if anyone enters student/parent applicant information into CRM.  We currently get a feed of those students/parents who have made deposits and plan to attend but we are wondering if any institutions enter constituent information earlier in the application workflow - for prospective students that have applied and haven’t yet committed.

  • Elie,

We also wait until a prospective student has
made a deposit before we bring that student (and their parents)
into CRM.  In working with our Admission team, we collectively
felt that the deposit was the point at which the prospective
student/family “attached” to TCU.  Our matriculation yield of
deposited students is quite high so we feel that using this as our
triggering event for the data load would help reduce the
noise/clutter that could be caused by other applicants.

I’d be happy to discuss further if you would
    like.

  • Thanks for your response Travis.  For us, when an alum's child applies, we get no indication until they are accepted and choose to attend.  We are curious if other University advancement offices get an indication of the application, acceptance or rejection, or acceptance but doesn’t choose to attend. We wouldn’t necessarily want to establish a record for the child until they decide to attend, but it might be helpful to have an indication that an alum’s child is participating in the application process.
  • Thanks for sharing what you are doing. We don't receive this information currently from our university but may in the future. I can see how it could be benefical to have this information to share with development officers and for other purposes. Thanks for blazing the trail for us!
