Matching Gifts Import in RE

Hi All,


I'm interested to know how your organization manage high volume of matching gifts in RE. As you know in order to record a matching gift, you need to create first a matching gift pledge and then create a new transaction that will fulfill the pledge which is your matching gift pay cash. This is fine if you have a low volume of donations but gets very time consuming with an import when you get a high volume of donations from employees and the macth from their organization. Currently we run 2 imports (using Omatic): one to get all the donations from employees in a batch, and then manually create the pledges from the batch, commit the batch and run a second import of the matching gifts in a batch as well (still with Omatic). What is time consuming is having to manually create the pledges in a batch and some other tweaks we haveto do using Omatic.


What your organization does when you have a huge volume of matching gifts that you cannot enter manually and have to do an import? Do you have different ways of recording matching gifts without using RE matching gifts functionnality?

    I can't answer your question directly as we don't get a high volume of matching gifts, but part of your process seems like it could be expedited. Couldn't you just import new matching gifts on to the records, create an output query of that import process, and grab the gift import IDs from there? Seems like it would be quicker than manually adding the pledges.


    This assumes though that you know the Constituent IDs for all of your matching gift donors. Maybe that's the hard part.

    Don't have large volume either - do the individuals have a relationship with the MG org?  If so, there is an automatic process to add the MG.  All I can find in KB is how to break the link: https://kb.blackbaud.com/articles/Article/51948  But first sentence reads: "When an individual has a relationship with an organization that matches gifts, a Matching Gift Pledge is automatically created when the individual makes a gift" so I know there's a check box somewhere to do it.
