Opt-Out / Unsubscribes

Options
How can you manage / mitigate the opt-outs? The issue we are seeing is that folks can only opt-out of EVERYTHING unless someone has a BBNC account; in the case that you have an account, we have created a set of options / email preferences. But 99.9% of our consituents DON'T have a login/account yet.

Help! Is there a work around here?

Hopefully, my explanation makes sense.  Thanks in advance.

  • We don't have the option for users to set-up an account, so yes, if the plugin is used they are opted out of all emails.  The form gives the flexibility for us to know exactly what the constituent's intention is and bypasses the plugin/account piece.  If you have the account option for your users then this may not be the right solution for you.
  • I am trying to see if there is a work-around.
Our university sends out many types of messages: Event invites,
University updates, Scholarship & loyalty updates, annual
giving solicitations, etc. If someone wants to unsubscribe from
Athletics emails vs. everything, there doesn’t seem to be any way
to allow for that UNLESS they have an account through the BBNC.

    Thanks.

  • The only work around we've been able to determine is using forms and directing folks to the form.  On that they can opt in to the different types of emails (eg athletics, news, etc.).  Whatever they do not opt-in to is considered an opt-out and that do not solicit code is added.

Then you Jen for the suggestion to vote. I went on and voted for email preferences rather than opt-out and multiple email list options upon signing up. In the meantime. What are other organizations doing to accommodate multiple email list opt-in/opt-outs?
