Split Payments when Entering Gifts

Options
Hi All,

Is there a way to split a payment when entering gifts--for example, if someone would pay with half cash and half credit?

Thank you,

Kristin

None that I'm aware of. If you're processing credit card through RE "no" for sure as it would charge full amount. If it passes your finance guidelines/procedures, the only thing that comes to mind right now would be to enter it as cash and note in reference $ paid by card. If you're posting gifts to accounting your amounts for paymethod are not going to match up.
  • I don't believe so.  There is only one pay method and that determines what fields are included.  You would have to enter two payments.

As others have said, there's no way to split payment types. I wonder, though, how important it is to record the payment type all the time. Maybe you can just do payment type of 'other' and record the detals in a note? In my particular use case of RE, that's what I'd do, but I don't run any reports based on payment type.

Unless, of course, I was processing the credit card via BBMS directly in a gift batch. In that case, I'd have to do two gifts because the CC portion would be tied to a specific financial transaction.

If someone is paying by two different pay methods - I would enter each half as a separate gift and put a note in Reference that the other half was paid with the other method.  At my org, and others I have worked at, gifts are entered in batch by pay method.  It makes reconcilation easier for sure.
