New Facebook Fundraising Tools: Thoughts?

I'd love to hear how these new tools are impacting daily life within the orgs everyone is fundraising for.

One issue I've heard about in the past is that these (infrequent as far as we can tell) donations just get sent to our hospital generally and don't make it to the foundation, and so are never counted as fundraising. We at the foundation don't set this up, each individual facebook fundraiser does, so we have no control or even knowledge of any of it. If someone doesn't let us know to track them down we never even hear about those dollars.
I also heard of at least one Teamraiser fundraiser who decided to use Facebook this way and was surprised that Facebook didn't magically update her Teamraiser page with her dollars.

So, I've been seeing more and more of my facebook friends utilizing the new fundraising tools on Facebook to support their favorite orgs and non-profits. I'm curious, is anyone out there actively building a strategy around using these tools. Are they helpful? What are the pros & cons?
I'd love to hear how these new tools are impacting daily life within the orgs everyone is fundraising for. We've just started, but Facebook doesn't make it easy. The nonprofit can't see who has set up a fundraiser, so can't thank them right away on the nonprofit's facebook page. Nor can they thank the donors. Eventually, all this data will come to the nonprofit when the fundraiser is over, but that can be awhile.0 -
We've had one person do a Facebook fundraiser for us and we do not like it. As others have said, there is no control for the organization and little information is available to us. We are going to take the approach not to push the platform, and if people do reach out, we are going to try to steer them away from it. It's easy in theory, but there is just too much missing for us to embrace it yet.2

The payment schedule on these and the FB donate "button" is horrible. If you are registered with FB Payments then your donations are held until they reach a total of $100, and then it's still another two weeks to a month. If you are not registered with FB Payments then the money goes through Network for Good and it takes at least a month and a half to get paid.

Really interesting to hear mostly negative feedback! Is there hope for improvements to these features, or are there any pushes to notify users of the difficulties/shortfalls so they continue to use traditional channels for fundraising?0

I'd love to hear how these new tools are impacting daily life within the orgs everyone is fundraising for.We hate it! We are not registered with Facebook because you have to be registered as a non-profit enttity and we have multiple event pages and then our main hospital page. So the donations get fed to us via Network for Good, who we are registered with. However when the donations go through Network for Good there is NO information from Facebook. No donor information, no fundraiser information, and not even the original date of the gift. Just the amount and that it came from Facebook. People then call us and say how come this is not on my (TeamRaiser) page. We ask them to send us a receipt from the donor so that we can "track it" when it comes in. Which is up to 6 weeks later. In the middle of a month we will get one payment to Network for Good, which is for all donations from the previous month. We strongly discounrage our participants from doing this if they ask or call. Trying to reach Facebook is very difficult.2 -

Is there hope for improvements to these features, or are there any pushes to notify users of the difficulties/shortfalls so they continue to use traditional channels for fundraising? When the Facebook button first came out, we tried disabling it. Unfortunately, that made things worse because the button option still comes up - but instead of going through Facebook to us, donations are routed through Facebook and Network for Good before getting to us. So we opted to re-enable it while discouraging people from actually using it.
Since Facebook only gives you the donor name (no email address, no fundraiser name), donations can't be tied to a Teamraiser. We've had a few calls about that and are trying to be proactive. Staff is reaching out to team captains to spread the word NOT to use the button, and we sent an email blast to everyone registered for an event this year. We also posted a note about the button to our Facebook page:0 -
Thanks for all of the input! We've worked with Facebook to suppress prompts to “Add a Donate Button” on Facebook shares linking back to TeamRaiser individual fundraising pages. We've heard from so many that these shares were causing significant problems for your TeamRaiser events by redirecting donations away from participants' individual fundraising pages.
In collaboration with Blackbaud, Facebook rolled out a solution -- tested over a week and released to 100% of their audience on July 25. You should find that participants no longer get prompted to "Add a Donate Button" (i.e. setup a Facebook Fundraiser) when they share links to TeamRaiser personal pages on Facebook.
This ‘block’ does not prevent an organization’s name from being displayed as a beneficiary of a fundraising campaign if a person starts a fundraiser directly on Facebook. It prevents the Facebook pop-up from appearing when a person shares the URL for a TeamRaiser personal page to fundraise for their event participation.

Thank you for working with Facebook to getting the prompt removed. This should help. In the month of June we had over 100 donations go through Facebook, which is great, but unless we heard from a donor that money never got on to the fundraiser's page.0

Go to their Nonprofits on Facebook page. Made an annoucement at about 4 pm eastern time saying:NEW FUNDRAISER API
People will be able to sync their off-Facebook fundraising efforts to Facebook fundraisers, making it easier to tell friends and family about the causes they support on and off Facebook. When people connect their off-Facebook fundraising campaign with Facebook, it creates a Facebook fundraiser that syncs with their campaign page. This means that donations made on Facebook will be reflected on their campaign page, and vice versa. Connecting to Facebook can help participants meet their goal faster by allowing them to easily reach all of their Facebook friends. Friends can share the fundraiser with others, spreading the word and reaching new donors. And donors can give in just a few taps without ever leaving Facebook. We are starting with Susan G. Komen, JDRF, National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Movember, and will be rolling this out to 500 additional nonprofits by the end of spring 2018.

I know that Komen, JRDF and MS use Blackbaud so this seems like they are working together. Can we get more information on this?0 -

Hi forum; Hope I have placed this in an appropriate thread.
Has anybody any experience of using or have implemented Facebook Donate?
Can you export data fields for import into the Raiser’s Edge?
Reading that BB have integrated FB Donate and Raiser’s Edge NXT, is this feature available to non-NXT versions?
Is there an option to add underlying RE codes into the FB Donate similar to JustGiving and Everyday Hero?
Is TeamRaiser needed to utilise FB Donate?
Any replies thankfully received
