Blackbaud Fundamental Certification

Options
Hi,

I am planning on taking the Blackbaud Fundamental Certification this Summer.  Has anyone taken the test?  Is there any place to see sample questions?  Any advice or pointers?

Thanks!

  • It's an "open book" test -- meaning you can have RE open while you are taking the exam.  You have 90 minutes to complete 30 questions.
  • Is this for BB-CRM Fundamentals, and if yes, can I have links to prepare.
  • I also finished both the Fundamentals exam and the Professional exams. They are both "open book". I have been working with RE for a few years and in every class, even the Fundamentals classes, there were little time savers and things that I learned. Some of them were substantially helpful. I took notes on the class handouts digitally and opened them up during the exams as well as having RE open.
  • Thank you for the feedback!  Good to know this information.

One more question, was it multiple choice or do you write out your answers?
  • Hi,

    The questions are multiple choice.

  • We don't use all of RE's features and it had been some time since I'd taken some of the Fundamentals classes, so I refreshed my memory with the Raiser's Edge: Basics series of online tutorials.  It was very helpful, not only for preparing for the exam but for reminding me of some features that are now useful but were too much for me to incorporate when RE was new to me.

  • I am in complete agreement with you. I went on to get pro-certification since my organization got a subscription for a year. Best thing they ever did.

Four years ago they had Associate level and Professional - since then they've changed the format and, apparently my Associate certification no longer qualified as a pre-requisite for the Professional level badges and exams. The Associate exam was much harder than the newer Fundamentals certification. The Associate level had lots of questions relating to the optional modules (so it helped to have the sample database open - which has all of the modules attached) the Fundamentals did not. It took me all of 15 minutes to answer the 30 questions, so if you're in the software every day you should be familiar enough to pass the exam - in my opinion anyway :) Good luck!
