Adding query results members to group

Hi All,


We realized that we weren't capturing everyone that needed to receive our emails because of a survey set-up error on our end. I queried these folks out and now need to add them to our Interest Opt-In group but when I go to choose my results to add them to the group, the group does not come up as an option to add to.


Is this because of a setting for the group I'm trying to add them to? I definitely don't want to do this manually.


I saw that it says to do a bulk change, to do it via import/export but then essentially, I am taking this data out of LO just to put it back in.


Would love any suggestions on how to do this.

  • One method that can be used for adding members of one group to an interest is called custom constituent import.

    ***To get the csv file of the group that you are wanting to add to the second group interest:

    1) Go to Mailmerge under Data Management

    2) Click "Create a New Mail-Merge".

    3) Enter mailmerge name, author, decription, security category (can leave this General)

    4) From the list on the left, select Email/Email, cons ID, click add selected

    5) Click Next step button.

    6) Select the Group(this is the group you are wanting to add to the interest) from the filetree, Click confirm.

    7) View the status of the Mail-Merge, which should be "queued" or "in process."

    8) Click on Refresh at the bottom of the table next to the Done button.

    9) Mail-Merge file is complete when status reads "Generated."

    10)Click on blue floppy-disk icon to download as a csv file.

    ***To modify the csv file from mailmerge to get it ready for group upload:

    1)Change the csv file so that there are three columns, there are like 6 rows before the column headers you need:

    2)Change the Email/Email to PRIMARY_EMAIL

    3)Edit the second column to be called CONS_ID,

    ​4)Create  a third column header caslled INTEREST_ID

    5)Populate the INTEREST_ID column with the INTEREST ID of the Interest to which you want to add these people(you can find this in Email -> Interests from Luminate menu, click on the interest you wish to add to and there will be a number next to the opt-in interest.

    6) Save as a csv file

    ***Follow these steps for uploading files that specify Convio Group IDs:

    1) Go Import/Export

    2) Select the operation: Custom Constituent Import

     I usually do a five constituent sample just to make sure I mapped everything correctly and the data is going where I want it to.

    3) Upload the CSV file with the upload data

    4) Click confirm to run this operation

    5) Click on the Refresh button. (Some operations might take a couple of minutes to complete execution.)

    6) Click on the View Report in the Actions column to view the summary of results.

    7) There may be errors, so you can open that and there will be a description of what the error is.

    8) Go to the group where the contacts were uploaded to verify that you see the added contacts


    ​Note: this will automatically add constituents to the op-in group. Adding to an interest takes care of both.
