Restricting who can send an alert to a custom target

We have an action alert going out to all mayors in our region. However, the mayor of Washington, D.C. isn't included in the LO Advocacy list so we need to create a custom target. The problem we are running into is that we can't find a way to restrict respondents to D.C. residents, the way the system will automatically restrict residents of other cities to other mayors. Are we missing something? We would rather not have to create a separate email and separate alert just for the D.C. audience if we can avoid it.

    Hey there, Kim.


    I think the way you envision it working in the final sentence is the way it would have to work. By the nature of a custom target, everyone, regardless of their jurisdiction/districting would be eligible to take that alert, should you create one for the DC Mayor. You would need to create a separate alert and send an email to those living in DC to get them to take action on this custom target.

    Hi Kim -


    If you all are interested in targeting Mayors or other local municipalities like city council and restricting who can take action based off of whether or not they live in the city or district there is a Luminate Advocacy add-on called "local advocacy". There is an additional cost of the add-on so you would need to work with your BB team to add it but, once it's turned on Mayor will show up as a target and will restrict who can take action.
