PetPoint Data for Raiser's Edge

Options
I'm not very well versed in PetPoint, especially the reports, and I'm wondering, for other PetPoint users who import or enter data into RE, what PetPoint report do you use? I want to extract a monthly report showing each person (and their contact info) who performed a transaction with us, what that transaction was (adoption, retail purchase, donations, event ticket, etc) the amount and the date. Any ideas/suggestions? Thank you!

Hello! I am fairly well versed in PetPoint stuff. Are you at all comfortable with creating custom reports? I don't think the stock reports are going to be super useful because they are either too restricted or too verbose. It's best to figure out how to create a reliable report on your own, and then schedule that report to generate, in your case, every month and deliver itself directly to your email. That way you can get as close as possible to automating this process.

You'll need to create separate reports for your different interests though (adoptions are different from retail purchases, which are different from event tickets, etc.).

Personally I do not import transaction data directly from PetPoint as the only transactions recorded there are fee-for-service things (adoption fees are not charitable donations), but I could see why you may want to record that. For us, when someone does make a donation at time of adoption, that winds its way up to development from our finance office.

But I do record adoption information as an attribute in RE, and we do that on a weekly basis. I have a report that pumps out all of the petpoint data I need plus all of the stock RE codes I need (such as addressee/salutation numerical codes, constituency code, etc.). Every week I have a volunteer go through the list and look for people who are already in RE, and she adds constituent IDs to the spreadsheet. For those folks, I do three imports - one for the adopter attribute, one for email address, and one for phone number. For everyone left over, I clean up the file (our PetPoint data entry people aren't always good about getting gender right, or title, or they do everything in all caps or all lower case, etc.) and import these new constituents in one go, complete with their contact info and all that.

Anyway, that's a broad overview of what I do. If you'd like some screenshots or specific walkthroughs of how I have these reports set up, direct message me and we'll start emailing about it. I'm not sure there are a lot of other animal welfare groups active on the forums.
