Events with RSVP responses: Advice Needed

Options
Good afternoon, everyone!

We just wrapped up our 'Planning Events in Online Express' webinar, with another amazing round of questions. We had a great real-world scenario question that we're hoping the Community can assist with. Kelli Monce asked:

"We hold regular events that we need an RSVP-type of response for, but we haven't found an elegant way to use the form for invited guests who need to respond with 'Regrets'- any ideas?"

We had discussed the possibility of creating a seperate form that lives as a link in a follow-up email that registrants could select "Regrets", but Kelli says they have attempted something similar, but it registers everyone in RE as 'Attending', even if they are 'Regrets'.

Do you have any words of wisdom or examples of how you solved a similar problem? Help out Kelli in the comments below!

  • Well, I'm not sure about elegant, but here is what I'd try:

Create an additional Price Unit that cost $0.00.  Name it regrets in your form.  When you have people registar regrets, download them into a separate batch using Bulk Processing.  I've never had a download mark them as attended, however it will mark them registared.  Once you have committed the batch, create a participant query of all price units for "regrets" and globaly replace the participant registration "registared" with "do not registar".  A few extra steps but it would at least give you the option.
