Tracking Prospective Members in RE

We use the membership module in RE to track our members however we do not use it for billing/payments; it is for internal information only. We are using a netcommunity common form for the Membership Inquiry. We would like to track these member inquiries in RE as prospective members. Is anyone doing anything similar to this? What is your recommendation for tracking them? The membership module or actions? Looking for ideas. Thanks!!

    Create a membership page with a complimentary membership that is "interested in membership" and download to from netcomm to RE, then add an attribute to the record in RE and delete the membership on the record.  A little cumbersome, but it will collect all the information you want, and I believe you can also add a hidden appeal to the membership form that will also be added to the RE record.  We do something similiar for those who want to subscribe to our email list.  https://www.dfwworld.org/Emails/Subscribe
