Constituent Import ID creating an exception to and import file

Options
I am importing gifts to already existing records. I would like to give three different solicitors credit for these gifts. One of the solicitors creates an exception when I do the import. The field called constituent import ID is the exception field with the reason being record does not exist. Obviously the solicitor record does exist but for some reason that I cannot see after comparing the other two solicitors Constituent Import ID and their records, I cannot see why one of these solicitors creates an exception and will not import. Does anyone have any insight into this?

  • Given that the other two solicitors are not causing the same problem, I would've said it was more likely to be an issue with the content of the import file than with the way the fields have been mapped. Have you checked to make sure that there are no extra spaces before or after the import ID? It might look correct to the human eye but not to RE.

Yeah, user error seems like it's probably the culprit here - import IDs are often long and full of zeroes, which can be difficult. Since you can't copy/paste the import ID out of the file->properties window, it's very easy for an error to get in. You may want to export the solicitor's import ID and copy/paste from there.

Also, check to be sure that the "Is a solicitor" box is checked on the solicitor's Bio 1 tab. I think that would also cause this problem.
