Membership Month/Year Analysis Report - Beginning Membership Balance

Anyone know how the beginning balances on this report are calculated? My Report shows Beginning memberships 2,657 but I am unable to query on memberships in anyway to get that number. I need to report by category and by # of members per category for the beginning of the FY. So.... I created a membership query from the report, but when I run the membership directory I get 10,450 memberships.

I then:

1. Created a query of active or lapsed memberships as of today.

2. Creted a query of memberships joined after 11-30-16

3. subtracted the query 2 from query 1.

4. Created a membership query of drops during Dec 2016.

5. Added those memberships to query 3

AND.... still did not come up with 2,657.

What am I missing?

With the help of Michele Young in support, we were able to create 2 queries to get within 12 records of the number shown on the report.

I am looking for memberships active or lapsed as of 12-1-2016

We took two membership queries:

Query 1 - "Current as Now or then"
Field Name                                                                  Criteria
Current Standing                                                         one of Active, Lapsed
OR (History Last Dropped On                                  between 12/1/2016 AND 3/21/2017
AND Current Standing                                               equals Dropped)
OR Current Upgraded On Date                                greater than or equal to 11/30/2016
OR Current Downgraded On Date                           greater than or equal to 11/30/2016

then subtracted the query 2:

Field Name                                                                  Criteria
Current Joined On Date                                             greater than 11/30/2016
OR Current All Rejoined On Dates                          greater than or equal to 11/30/2016

So this gets us really close - within in 12 records (yea).
Note our memberships are rolling 12 month, and there is only one membership allowed per membership.

So if you are using this for your use, you may need to tweak the queries.
