Add Email Performance Data to RE - Opt-Outs only
Thanks for any help/tips/advice!

You can push all of the data to RE and then go remove (using Global Change/Delete) the Appeal Tags from the records with a response other than "opt-out". However, you'll still have the Appeal Record, so long as there are tags for that Appeal on any Constituent records. And there is a difference between opt-out responses (as mentioned in your post's subject and the second sentence of your post) and bounced responses (as mentioned in the first sentence of your post). If you are wanting to look at both, you need to also consider that there are hard bounces and soft bounces...but as yet, OLX doesn't differentiate between them in the Appeal Response field.
Depending on how large your lists are, or rather how many opt-out of each email, you can click on the Opt-Out number in the honeycomb dashboard and see the addresses that have opted out. Since OLX doesn't (unless it's a recent change) allow the consitutent to provide a reason for unsubscribing, I'm not sure how much you can reliably determine from just a list of those who opted out. I opt-out of email from orgs because they send too much/too often, not because of the content of a particular message...but I've also opted out because of the content...usually it's an overall content feel, not one specific message, though.0 -

Is there a way to add ONLY bounced email information to RE from Online Express? I don't want to create an appeal for every email we send, but we do want to be able to compile statistics for opt-outs so we can determine what types of emails our constituents prefer to receive.
Thanks for any help/tips/advice!
JenOops, I meant Opt-Outs, not bounces... better pour myself another cup of coffee!

If it's a Hard Bounce, then OLX treats that as an Unuseable Address. Hard Bounces and Opt-Outs are automatically excluded from future sends, and are accessible via the button to Manage Unuseable Address (might have the wording wrong, I don't have RE open right now).
If it's a Soft Bounce, it is not recommended that you remove them from your list because often it's a temporary problem. I believe a certain number of Soft Bounces will turn into a Hard Bounce. But unless you are in danger of going over your allotted message sends as part of your OLX subscription, I wouldn't worry about it much.
My org occasionally wants to send out news via email and then a postal version for those on the list for whom we don't have a valid & useable email address. This means I need to know who we have emails for but won't be included in an OLX message (because they've unsubscribed or hard bounced). This means that I change the Phone Type on the appropriate email address to "XeHome (unsubscribed)" for example. It's easy to do for opt-outs once I push the data from OLX to RE and create the Appeal (which we do for all messages) but harder for the Bounced ones, because the Response Field doesn't differentiate between Hard & Soft. But if you don't ever see this situation arising for your org, you should be able to just let OLX handle that for you.3 -

JenWe've just started using OnEx for emails but haven't used Appeals in this way at all. I'd like to be able to add the emails as an Action. Not really a solution, so much as to say that I also "don't want to create a new appeal for every email we send". Is it possible to save them all as the same appeal?

No, each message gets it's own Appeal. But you can still push the data, use Global Add/Change to move it to where you want it (Action, or a Package on a consolidated Appeal) and then use Global Change to delete the OLX Appeal.
Not sure I'd spend a lot of time on this, though. OLX is being moved to the NXT platform (although I assume it will remain in RE:7 as well, for orgs without NXT) and there will likely be some changes in how things operate. At one time, I believe there was talk of a separate Tile for OLX messages, separate from Appeals...but in RE:7, there are only so many ways/places to store data because of the structure of that interface.
You may want to look and see when the OLX move to NXT is slated to happen and hold off until that time to see what changes. Even if you don't have NXT. Then decide how much time you want to put into moving data around...if you still need to.0 -

Do you have any suggestions of another method to find out this information?

Jennifer if you've already started the move to NXT and are not getting any response from your account manager try the Implementation Team. They are the ones that handle the data move. Try Mike Coira, Project Coordinator. mike.coira@blackbaud.com1

So can I just check I've got this correct? All bonces (hard and soft) will be recorded in the appeal info as "Bounced". However, only hard bounces will be listed on the unuseable emails list?
And if you click on the "Bounces" bit on the honeycomb is that just hard or hard and soft?

JenDoes anyone know why my post to this thread from 10th MArch hasn't bumped it up the recent topics list? It doesn't even appear in the "My Topics" section.

Does anyone know why my post to this thread from 10th MArch hasn't bumped it up the recent topics list? It doesn't even appear in the "My Topics" section.Hey Matthew! Great question. The way we have the OLX (and RE) community set up is so discussions appear in the order of the original post, rather than the most recent reply. Happy to work with you if this isn't ideal. Would love to hear input from others on this topic as well.

I guess people probably won't see this post to know about this discussion though. Should I start a new thread on it?

Thanks, Matthew!
I've actually created a poll so others can weigh in on this topic. You can go vote for your preference here. I can adjust the homepages once we've got a nice polling sample.

I voted! I really miss the way this used to work. I used to read through posts directly in the Community, but now I need to use emailed instant alerts (filtered to a separate folder so that my phone isn't constantly dinging with new message alerts) and then open email, click on the post subject to open the post in a new tab, read the post and comments, or any new comments, delete the email, look for other emails in the same thread and delete those. Otherwise, I miss comments on older posts...regardless of whether I commented on or liked the post...0

Correct...hard and soft bounces get the Appeal Response of "Bounced" in RE. But only hard bounces are considered unuseable. I don't remember if the Bounces part of the honeycomb report is hard or both...I think it's both. Apparently, this is still on my list of Ideas to post in the OLX Idea Bank, as I'm not finding exactly what I'm looking for. This Idea and this Idea are close, though.

Thanks!
(And, yes. I've got a feeling that there was one, but tha tjust asked for it working the same way, but trating hard and soft bounces as different things).
