Change event gift to a team gift

Options
A donor made a gift to our event, but actually wanted to attribute it to a specific team.  How can I move her gift so it is reflected in that team's fundraising activities?

Thanks.

  • Hi Peggy,

You would make this soft credit change at the donor's transaction tab in Constituent 360. Follow this path:

Constituent 360 > Constituents > Search for the donor > Edit link > Transactions tab > Scroll down to find the transaction on that page and click the link to change the soft credit at the right side.

I hope that helps point you in the right direction!

    Thanks,

  • Wonderful!! Next question: How can I change an individual gift to a team gift? I tried the method above, but didn't see the soft credit option there.

  • Hi Peggy,

Do you know if the individual gift was made as an "additional
gift" at the time of registration?  If so, that could be why
you aren't seeing the soft credit option.

    Best,

    Laura

Not sure, but that's my guess.

  • Hi Peggy,

In that case, it was billed with the registration fee and it
won't show as a separate donation.  There are smoke and mirror
ways around getting the donation to appear, but I'm not sure that
you want to go down that road.

I'm happy to chat with you over the phone in regards to
    options if you'd like.

    Best,
    Laura

I just had to do this recently. That method is to refund just the additional gift portion of the registration fee, but select the 'as cash - do not refund the card' option so no real money gets refunded.

Then you can make an offline gift for the same amount anywhere you want and the math still adds up.

edit: I think the concern is probably about what this looks like in RE. Not a big deal for us. We don't allow offline gifts in the participant center, so we don't sync our offline gifts to RE.
